For most bands, it is better to get contracts to perform abroad. People in other countries acknowledge the need of entertainment and for sure, the pay will be higher. However, they are on a contract basis. The usual steps are to send a demo tape along with pictures of the band members to which they will evaluate if the band will indeed be something their customers would want.

Normally, places like Japan and Taiwan are the main destination points of bands. Local folks in these areas put premium in the entertainment that they get. So if you want to find a rewarding gig, check out the overseas requirements. You may just be the one they are looking for.
